It may have been only June, but the fireworks started early for this month's Tetris Tournament. Champions fell from grace, warriors returned from exile, and attendance records were shattered (28 competitors, an all time high!). Throw in free shots of Jameson's and multiple screens playing at once, and you've got another great night in Tetris League. Download June's brackets here! Next Tournament: July 25th, 8pm at Forest Room Five. To play next month, call 303-941-4929. www.forestroom5.com |

1st Place Champion - Leslie Volkar
Leslie made it to the championship round last month, only to take a beating by an angry Paul G. This month, she rolled into the finals undefeated, where she squeezed past Joe to win her second title ever, 47-40. Her path wasn't easy: Sarah W, Jason, Heidi and the suddenly dangerous Jon Nelson. But can she avoid a meltdown next month? |

2nd Place - Joe
Joe has steadily climbed up the brackets since his first appearence last year, and in June he put it all together for a spot in the final match. He squeeked by Paul G. in a one-minute tie breaker (destined for a rerun on ESPN Classic) and knocked out perennial-champion-contender Vinnie in the loser's bracket 39-36. No longer "under the radar." |

3rd Place - Jon Nelson
Reluctant warrior Jon Nelson proved he was for real with a strong run in the winner's bracket, followed by a respectable showing on the loser's side. He beat Melissa T. and Melanie in close matches, but couldn't get past Joe in a 54-39 loss. |

4th Place - Jesse Johnson
Battling acne and obesity, Jesse Johnson somehow rolled his fleshy body into the final four, where Joe promptly cut him down to size. Had hotdog breath for literally the fifth month in a row. |
![]() |
5th Place - Heidi
Heidi had been on the cusp of greatness the last three tournies - this time, she had her breakout performance. Tackling heavy hitters like Krissy! (22-20) and holding her own against Leslie and Jesse Johnson in two tough losses, this renegade proved she has the talent and the skill to go as far as she wants. |

6th Place - Melanie
Possibly June's most interesting sub-plot, Melanie returned from a semester-long absense spent meditating and training in China (under the tutelage of the ancient masters of Tetris). A championship contender before her mysterious disappearance, Melanie came back with vengeance, chopping off the heads of Dan V. and Jesse Johnson on her way to a tough loss at the hands of Joe. |

May Rookie of the Month - Jon S.
The only thing we knew about this rookie before his June debut was that he was a fierce competitor with an appetite for victory. Little did we know that Jon. S. had the skill and courage to take down last month's champ Paul G. in an elimination game, and then the will to go head-to-head with former ROM Mo Pancake in a 33-30 loss. Very impressive. |

Most Improved Player - Heidi
Honestly, her performances leading up to June hadn't been very impressive - it seemed like she was losing not to her opponents but to herself. Then came a campaign of victories and domination that tore through Tetris Tournament like a wrecking ball. Can she keep the momentum in July? |

Biggest Meltdown - Vinnie & Paul G.
It seems like every tournament is a battle between Vinnie and Paul G. - if one of them is playing cold, the other is sure to be in championship form. Sadly, Vinnie went a quick 2 and 2, while Paul was a stunning 0 and 2. The good news: these players know how to bounce back from adversity. |

![]() |
Maggie Undoubtably the most mysterious rookie of June, Maggie defeated former heavy-weight Sarah Freakin Wells in the losers bracket. No small task, but will she return in July? June: 19.6 |
![]() |
